India
Thousands of children live on the streets in India.
Dirty, lice-ridden, dressed in rags, foraging for food during the day and sleeping under a plastic sheet at night. They tend to come from poor and un-educated families, some of which migrate to tourist Goa in search of jobs and money.
Once there, the children are forced out on to the streets to beg or sell bangles and beads for a meager pittance in order to be fed. They become targets for organized crime and are vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse.
All over India the street kids are under constant threat of being stolen from the streets and forced to beg and in some cases their limbs are severed, they are fed on a handful of rice and dhal in the evening and beaten if they do not earn their quota for that day.
What can be done to help these children
Mustard Seed Ministries have been actively working alongside these kids for some time now and we believe that it is time we did something of worth to better their chances of having a regular meal, educations, roof over their head and most of all someone to care.
The main thing is to get these kids off the streets and give them an education and a safe, caring loving home.
There are many who are lost, afraid and abandoned living in adverse conditions.
On railway stations, sidewalks, rubbish dumps, in fields and on beaches, alone.
We at Mustard Seed Ministries believe
We CAN make a difference!
